The spacecraft touched down just before 3 p.m. ET Monday, the first landing on the Red Planet since the Curiosity rover in 2012. The girls’ father is HIV-positive. The research hasn’t yet been published, leading scientists to urge caution. If true, however, experts say this is historic. The gene-editing technique, called CRISPR, is extremely controversial.
