Cheddar recommends for your streaming options this confluence of holidays this weekend, "Beef," "My Name Is Mo'Nique," "Wellmania," "Schmigadoon," "The Last Temptation of Christ," and the podcast "The Toast."

Beef - Netflix

Picked by Digital Editor Mike Nam

Time to give into your inner monster, as Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead, Minari) and Ali Wong (Always Be My Maybe, Tuca & Bertie) star in this newly-released Netflix series about two grown adults consumed by their anger after they cross paths in a road rage incident. Far from being model minorities, the two acclaimed actors promise to spiral deeper into their respective darkest impulses, per the streaming platform's info.

My Name Is Mo'Nique - Netflix

Picked by Lawrence Banton

After a major court battle and public call to get support for her discrimination lawsuit against the streaming giant, Mo'Nique's long-awaited stand-up comedy is finally on Netflix. In this new special, she dives into uncomfortable sex talks she had with her grandmother in her younger days and confronts a racist school teacher. For decades, Mo'Nique has been renowned as one of the top comedians, and this return to the stage certainly captures that.

Wellmania - Netflix

Picked by Senior Editor Dina Ross

Liv is on top of the world as a famed food writer who is about to get a hot-shot role as a reality TV judge. That is, until she heads back to her hometown down under and gets stuck there. Now her entire future rests on her ability to get her fitness levels up to government-approved standards. This charming new series on Netflix has all of the ingredients you need for a rom-com sitcom: light laughs, love, friendship, and some surprising, easy-going twists. If you liked New Girl or How I Met Your Mother, this one might be for you.

Schmigadoon! - Apple TV+

Picked by Newsletter Writer Graison Dangor

The first season of this Broadway parody-homage found Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key, a couple trying to reinvigorate their relationship on a backpacking trip, wander into a seemingly idyllic early 20th-century town where everything is a musical — and from where they cannot escape until they find true love. The second season, which began streaming this week, moves the show from pre-war parodies of Music Man and Brigadoon numbers to the saucy, Fosse era of Chicago, Cabaret, and Hair. I can't wait to annoy everyone around me by singing the goofy numbers performed by the A+ Broadway talent, including Kristen Chenoweth and Alan Cumming, returning to the second season.

The Toast - Apple Podcasts, Spotify

Picked by Keara O’Driscoll

If you liked my recommendation for Not Skinny But Not Fat, this daily podcast is along the same lines. Sisters Claudia and Jackie Oshry recap the top five stories of the day and give their hilarious takes on what is big in pop culture. You might recognize comedian Claudia Oshry from her Instagram account @girlwithnojob.
