Here comes the weekend again, so it's time to relax and peruse our what-to-watch list. Cheddar's Digital Team is in the fall spirit which has us recommending everything from Muppet-level creeps straight up to classic horror.

Muppets Haunted Mansion - Disney+

Picked by Sr. News Editor Dina Ross

Let's start this week's edition of 'What to Stream' with something for the whole family (because the suggestions are about to get much darker). I was just thinking about The Muppet movies of my youth when what should appear? Muppets Haunted Mansion which comes out on Disney+ this weekend. It should be great Halloween fun for us scaredy-cats and also offer something to calm the nerves of the millions who have been binging on Squid Games and Midnight Mass.

Black Widow - Disney+

Picked by Digital Editor Mike Nam

This flick seemed to be a late entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, since it's the only one starring a female member of the Avengers. It also came during the pandemic and while it screened in theaters, up until this weekend it was only available to stream via Disney+'s premium access, which requires an additional $30 charge to watch. Starting this week, the adventures of Natasha Romanov (played by Scarlett Johansson), from the time that elapsed between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, are available with just your subscription.

Alice in Borderland - Netflix

Picked by Producer Lawrence Banton

The spirit of October is alive and well and I figured since the world is enthralled with Netflix’s hit series Squid Game, I’d keep the ball rolling with a similar viewing experience. If you enjoy watching people become their grittiest selves while competing in games that seem fit for adolescents, then Alice in Borderland is right up your alley. Taking place in Japan, a group of friends headed to a bar find themselves alone in the streets… or so they thought. Turns out they ended up in Borderland as immigrants and in order to stay alive, the crew must play deadly games, like hide-and-seek and tag, which extend their weekly visas.

The Exorcist III - Netflix

Picked by Reporter Alex Vuocolo

The Exorcist is one of the great horror films of all time, and I'm sure many of you will be revisiting it this October. As a big fan, I urge you to do so, but after it's done consider jumping ahead to the less celebrated The Exorcist III, starring George C. Scott and directed by William Peter Blatty, who wrote the novel. You don't need to watch the second one, which is widely considered a disaster. This follow-up, which was released in 1990, returns to the universe from the perspective of Lt. Bill Kinderman, as he pursues a serial killer who might just be a demonic presence. For my money, it's even scarier than the original, and just as atmospheric. Scott's Kinderman is also perfectly grizzled and cynical, setting him up for a face-off with the forces of evil that is both shocking and almost poignant.
