*By Bridgette Webb* Hockey legend Martin Brodeur is putting on his business hat: after 21 seasons on the ice, the Hall of Fame-bound goalie is headed to the main office of the New Jersey Devils as the executive VP of business development. And it's a homecoming for the former Devil who led the team to win three Stanley Cups. "It's exciting to be back home here in New Jersey," Brodeur, who will be inducted in November into the Hockey Hall of Fame, said Wednesday in an interview on Cheddar. "I left the organization four years ago, so there are a lot of new faces," he added. Even in retirement, Brodeur has been a fixture at Newark's Prudential Center, the Devils' stadium; his number was [retired](https://www.nbcsports.com/video/martin-brodeurs-number-retired-devils-during-pregame-ceremony) in 2016, and a statue of him sits outside the team's home arena. Although viewership for the NHL [dropped in 2017](https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2017/04/14/Media/NHL-audience.aspx), Brodeur said the league is well-positioned for growth. "The skill of the players and the youth of the players is a lot different then even 10 years ago," he said. "We are going in the right direction." For Brodeur, that direction points online. "Social media is going to be a big factor, obviously the eSports games are a big factor also. It's important to stay ahead of that game, because that's the future of our business."
