These are the headlines you Need 2 Know. * **George H.W. Bush Dies:** George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st president of the United States died on Friday. He was 94. His death comes less than a year after his wife of 73 years, Barbara, was laid to rest. Bush was a decorated Navy pilot, flying dozens of combat missions during WWII. He presided over the country during a turbulent period as the Cold War ended. The 43rd president, George W., was able to speak to his father via speaker phone just before his death, and after telling his father how much he loved him, George H.W. replied, “I love you, too.” Those are said to be his last words. There will be an 11 a.m. state funeral in D.C. at the National Cathedral, which President Trump will attend. On Thursday, Bush will be laid to rest at his presidential library in Texas, beside Barbara and Robin, the young daughter they lost to leukemia. The so-called ‘Yellow Vest’ demonstrations, named after the safety vests the protesters wear, erupted in violence over the weekend as people took to the streets to protest against rising costs of living and a new gas tax. Extremists joined in, setting cars on fire and vandalizing the Arc de Triomphe. Macron says he will meet with representatives of the protest movement. The majority of aftershocks have been a magnitude 2.5 or weaker. No one was injured or killed in the quake, but it destroyed roads and buildings and led to power outages. The mayor of Anchorage says it’s the second largest earthquake the city has had since 1964. The NYPD recovered the ring and, after asking for help on social media, the couple was found. The groom-to-be tweeted: “So so happy to have ring back! The temporary “cease-fire” will keep tariffs at the current 10 percent rate while the two sides continue negotiating. The U.S. was scheduled to bump the rate up to 25 percent on the first of the year. The White House has said China has agreed to buy more American goods as part of the agreement. It currently works in a handful of small convenience stores that Amazon operates, but the company is trying to see if it will work for larger spaces, like grocery or big-box stores. There are 3.5 million cashier jobs in the U.S. that could be threatened by this emerging technology. In the semifinals, Clemson will play Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl and Alabama will take on Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, both on Dec. 29.
