It's no secret that movie assassin John Wick is a dog lover — and now the film franchise wants its fans to feel the joys of having their own four-legged friend.

Lionsgate, Hard Rock Hotel International, and the North Shore Animal League America held an "Unleashed Yappy Hour," bringing together adoptable puppies and fans of the John Wick movies together. The event, which was held at the Hard Rock Hotel New York on March 23, coincided with International Puppy Day.

"These dogs are so cute," said Keith Sheldon, Hard Rock International president of entertainment. "They just need homes. They just need to be loved."

The puppies were available for pets and snuggles, with the hopes of finding their fur-ever homes. Items like signed guitars and Hard Rock Hotel stays were also up for auction in order to raise funds for North Shore, which is the world's largest no-kill animal shelter. Hard Rock Hotels, which allows pets at some of its locations through its Unleashed program, also donated $150,000 to North Shore and committed a portion of proceeds from every pet stay at its locations in March and April.

While some of the puppies did go home with attendees, North Shore encourages people to check out their social media and website to find their perfect pet.

"What you want to do is really match what you're looking for with the characteristics that that dog has, the lifestyle that you lead, the lifestyle that you want, the time that you have," said Anthony Angioletti, North Shore Animal League America director of offsite operations. "Some people don't have time for a puppy. So they may look for something a little bit older, and that may be a better match for them."
