The Idol Canceled

HBO's controversial series The Idol starring The Weeknd will not be getting revived for a second season.

The series had just a five episode run and the decision to end it apparently came after a lackluster reception by viewers, and according to Variety, the show's creators were not clear if there was potential for the show to move forward.

The show made headlines well before its wide debut after director Amy Seimetz exited the show and was replaced by Sam Levison. It again made headlines after premiering at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival for its portrayal of a sex cult.

Elton John Hospitalized

Singer Elton John spent a night in the hospital after falling at his home in Nice, France.

The 76-year-old was apparently treated for minor injuries and stayed the night for medical observation. The fall comes more than a month after John wrapped up his five year long Yellow Brick Road tour.

In 2021, the singer suffered another fall which prompted a hip surgery. Some of the dates on his tour were delayed as a result of the sudden medical emergency.

Representatives for John said he is doing well and recovering at home in the South of France.
