From Spider-man overload to the 'Fast & Furious' gang getting back together, here are your top entertainment headlines.

Spidey's Return

Cue the infamous Spider-Man meme! "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" has finally arrived in theaters and it looks to be another massive hit for the iconic web-slinging franchise.

The sequel film, which is said to feature about a million different spidey-people – figuratively speaking of course – already reportedly snatched up $17.35 million at the box office in Thursday previews. It's now projected to bring in $80 million over its opening weekend. It's a staggering difference from the 2018 film, which grossed $3.5 million in its previewing showings and another $35.4 million in its first weekend.

Reviews for the project have been glowing. Variety's chief film critic Owen Gleiberman said, in part, "They've done it. 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' doesn't just extend the tale of Miles Morales. The film advances that story into newly jacked-up realms of wow-ness that make it a genuine spiritual companion piece to the first film."

If you can bear any more good news revolving around this film, it's been revealed that a third installment is just around the corner and set for a March 2024 release.

Elsewhere in the spider-verse, Tom Holland, who plays a live-action version of Spider-Man, said a fourth installment of his franchise was in the works but has since halted.

"There's been multiple conversations had, but at this point it's very, very early stages," he told Variety. "We've put the meetings on pause in solidarity with the writers."

The Writers Guild of America, a union covering writers across most of entertainment, has now been on strike for more than a month. The union is trying to negotiate higher minimum wages, additional staff on shows, and shorter contract exclusivity, among other demands.

The 'Fast' Family

Remember when Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson almost drove a wedge between the Fast & Furious family? You might recall when Tyrese Gibson also had an issue with The Rock getting his own spin-off with Jason Statham in Hobbs & Shaw. which also caused some ruckus within the 'Fast' family. We'll just act like it never happened because that's what the rest of the guys are doing.

Johnson and Vin Diesel apparently made up, secretly, sometime last year. Johnson made the reveal in an Instagram post as he also told fans he was set to return to the franchise as Hobbs.

Fast X hit theaters just last month but another untitled installment is already in the works.
