From Angela Bassett's new hardware to Ryan Reynold's new sport, here is what's happening in entertainment.

Honorary Oscars

It's been nearly 30 years since Angela Bassett received her first Oscar nomination and now the Academy is set to award her with an honorary statue.

Bassett received her first Oscar nod for her portrayal of the late Tina Turner in the 1993 film What's Love Got to Do With It? She lost to Holly Hunter for her role in The Piano. She was nominated again this year for Best Supporting Actress for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever but lost to Jamie Lee Curtis for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Now the Academy is set to present Bassett with an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards in November. Janet Yang, president of the Academy, said, in part, "Across her decades-long career, Angela Bassett has continued to deliver transcendent performances that set new standards in acting."

Other Honorary Award recipients include Mel Brooks and film editor Carol Littleton. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be presented to Michelle Satter of the Sundance Institute.

Steph Curry Doc

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has a new documentary coming.

The project, titled Underrated, looks back at the legendary, and ongoing, career of 'The Baby-faced Assassin' and his ascent to becoming the greatest shooter in the history of the game of basketball. The story is brought to life with help of producers Ryan Coogler and Peter Nicks. And it all starts with Curry's 2009 draft, in which he went number seven in the first round.

The film will launch in select theaters and begin streaming on AppleTV+ on July 21.

Ryan Reynolds F1

Formula 1 is set to get some major celebrity investments as the sport looks to expand.

Actor and serial investor Ryan Reynolds tapped a few of his buddies to buy a stake in F1 team Alpine. Other A-listers onboard include Michael B. Jordan and Rob McElhenney, who co-owns the Wrexham AFC soccer team with Reynolds.

Alpine is already set up for success; it finished in the top five during the 2022 season.
