Cate Luzio, the founder of Luminary, a professional networking platform focused on helping women succeed in their careers, said she's well-positioned to talk about the importance of equity, not just equality, this International Women's Day. Women are not a homogenous group, an important point for companies to understand when they try to become more inclusionary.
So what should companies focus on? "Pay parity is number one," she stated, also noting that, "Women are often promoted on performance while men are often promoted on potential."
However, women can't achieve better outcomes alone in the workplace, Luzio said. Men can help by listening.
"Be not just our allies, be our advisors. Work with us every single day to accomplish our goals."
